Ibera Marsh
Dorado in paradise
Location
The Ibera Marsh (esteros del ibera) is the second largest wetland in the world. Located within a sprawling national park system, this natural paradise is full not only of fish, but enough birds and wildlife to keep you distracted throughout your visit! With zero noise pollution the only sounds you hear are your fly line shooting through your guides and the gentle splash of your guide’s push pole as you maneuver through the channels and lagoons. Pure tranquility until the explosion of water as a dorado crushes your fly!
Fishing
Depending on the conditions and time of season you could visit the main lodge located in the small town of Concepcion, or one of the numerous remote camps located throughout the marsh. When you fish with our outfitter you are guaranteed exclusive fishing access in the marsh, no one else but your group will be fishing!
Temperatures can be hot in the rainy season (December-February), but the clouds and rain can give you some excellent fishing! Temperatures are more comfortable during March/April and October/November
Surface Opportunities
The marsh is an ideal place to catch dorado on poppers and rats. The explosive takes of a surface eat and the acrobatics afterwards are legendary!
A Mellow Paced Fishery
While the average size of fish is a bit smaller than the Upper Parana, the numbers of fish and the style of fishing is a bit easier and more friendly to the beginning to intermediate dorado angler. You will be casting to likely spots through the day and do not have to be incredibly accurate as the fish will come out from cover and chase your fly! You will fish one angler at a time flats style giving your casting arm a break through the day.
Daily Routine
The fishing schedule in the marsh is normally a early start in the morning, followed by lunch and a nap mid day at camp or on the water, then heading back out to fish in the evening and into dark. When staying at the remote camp/cabins your day is extended as you do not have to return to town!
Lodging
La Alondra’i is a jaw dropping botique hotel located in the small town of Concepion. The reconditioned classic colonial house will be your base for a night or two. It features air conditioned rooms, a courtyard with a pool and a fire pit for gathering to tell fishing stores at the end of the day, and a professional chef who will serve you regional and local cuisine.
